Our name and this association is created to welcome everyone who has attended BMYS since 1924. The abbreviation for AYBSAA is derived from:
A - American Mission -1924(1916 E.C.) - 1977(1969 )
Y- Yehewot Berhan School - 1978(1970 E.C.) - 1996 (1989)
B - Bethel Mekane Yesus - 1996 (1989 E.C.) – Current
S- School

Learning is a life-long process that is centered on a community and service-based operation. This community approach is essential in building a strong foundation to enhance critical, creative, teamwork, and communication skills in children.
Membership registration is required. To become a member you have to qualify in one of the following:
1. Regular Members: Former students of American Mission (AMS), Yehiwot Berhan (YBS) and Bethel Mekane Yesus (BMYS) School.
2. Associate Members: Former local and foreign Teachers and Administrators of AMS, YBS and BMYS are eligible.
3. Distinguished Members: Anyone who has made and willing to make notable contributions to AYBSAA and is recommended by an Association member and approved by a simple majority vote of the Board of Directors is eligible.
